Construction and renovation debris removal

Not every project needs a dumpster sitting in the driveway for two weeks. We load the debris, haul it, and you get the space back the same day.

Debris we remove

  • Drywall, plaster and lumber from renovations
  • Old cabinets, countertops and vanities
  • Flooring, carpet and padding
  • Tile and small amounts of brick or concrete
  • Fencing, decking and shed teardown
  • Branches and debris after a storm

For contractors and homeowners

Contractors call us when a dumpster will not fit, the town will not permit one on the street, or the job only produces a truckload or two. Homeowners call after a DIY bathroom or kitchen demo. Either way we can schedule a single haul or come back at stages of the project.

Dumpster or haul-away

A dumpster makes sense on a long job with steady waste. For short jobs, tight driveways or condos with rules about containers, a haul-away usually costs less and you do not do the loading.

Construction debris removal for contractors

Construction debris removal works best when it is planned with the job, not after it. Tell us the schedule and we can set up staged pickups: one after demo, one when rough work wraps up, and a final haul before the punch list. The site stays clear, your crew is not stepping over scrap, and the homeowner sees a clean driveway at the end of every phase.

Have your crew pile debris in one spot close to where the truck can park. Keep metal, clean wood and bagged trash in rough groups if you can. We do the loading, but a tidy pile means less time on site and a lower bill.

In general terms, mixed construction and demolition waste goes to a transfer station that accepts it. Scrap metal can often go to recycling. Clean brush and yard waste usually goes to a separate yard waste site. Some materials, like paint, solvents and anything with asbestos, are not accepted with regular debris and need their own disposal path. That sorting is part of why a haul is priced by what is in the pile, not just by its size.

Renovation debris removal for homeowners

A lot of our renovation debris removal calls come from homeowners in Norwalk, Stamford, Fairfield and the towns around them who did the demo themselves. A kitchen gut leaves cabinets, countertops, drywall, old appliances and a surprising amount of broken plaster. A bathroom tear-out adds a tub or shower pan, a toilet, a vanity and a lot of heavy tile.

Flooring tear-outs are another common one. Carpet and padding are bulky but light. Hardwood, laminate and tile underlayment are heavier than they look once they are stacked. We carry it out from wherever it ended up, whether that is a basement, a garage or the second floor.

  • Kitchen demo: cabinets, counters, sinks, drywall and old appliances
  • Bathroom demo: tubs, toilets, vanities, tile and backer board
  • Flooring: carpet and pad, hardwood, laminate, vinyl and tack strip
  • Small projects: a closet rebuild, a torn-out deck or a basement wall

Yard debris removal and storm cleanup

Yard debris removal covers more than leaves. After a storm in Fairfield County or Westchester we haul downed branches, brush piles and limbs that have already been cut to a size people can carry. We also take out old fencing, rotted landscape timbers, broken patio furniture and sheds that have been taken apart.

If you have a whole tree down or a limb resting on a roof or power line, call a tree service or the utility first. Once the wood is on the ground and cut into pieces, we can load it and take it away. Shed teardown is something we can quote too, along with the haul.

Why weight matters with heavy debris

A pickup truck or box truck can be full by volume or full by weight, and heavy debris hits the weight limit long before it fills the space. Concrete, brick, tile, dirt, stone and roofing shingles are the usual examples. A few square yards of broken concrete can weigh as much as a full load of furniture.

Disposal sites generally charge by weight for these materials, and trucks have legal weight limits. So for heavy debris we need a fair idea of how much there is. A couple of photos with something in the frame for scale, like a door or a car, is usually enough to give you an accurate quote.

What to have ready before the debris removal truck arrives

  • A clear path from the pile to the street or driveway
  • Parking space close to the work area, and a heads up about any building or HOA rules
  • Nails pulled or bent over on loose boards when you can manage it
  • Paint, chemicals and anything you are keeping moved away from the pile
  • Someone on site, or clear instructions, so we take the right things

Construction and Debris Removal: common questions

Do you load the debris or do I?

We do. That is the main difference from a dumpster rental. If your crew has already piled it, the job goes faster and costs less.

Can you take concrete and dirt?

Small amounts, yes. Heavy materials fill weight limits fast, so tell us roughly how much there is and we will price it correctly up front.

Can you come back during a project?

Yes. Many renovation jobs need two or three hauls: after demo, partway through and at the end. We can set those up in advance.

How do I get a quote for debris removal?

Send photos of the pile and tell us where it is and what is in it. The price depends on how much space it takes on the truck, how heavy it is and how far we have to carry it. The quote is free and you get it before any work starts.

Do you work on active job sites with other trades around?

Yes. We can schedule around your crew so we are not in the way, and we can come early in the day so the site is clear before other trades show up. Let us know about access, parking and any hours the property or building enforces.

Can you take roofing shingles?

We can take small roofing jobs or leftover shingles. Shingles are very heavy for their size, so we need to know roughly how many squares or bundles there are. For a full roof tear-off, a roofing dumpster is often the better fit, and we will tell you if that is the case.

What debris can you not take?

We cannot haul hazardous materials like paint cans that still hold liquid, solvents, fuel, asbestos or chemicals. Those need special disposal through your town or a licensed handler. If you are not sure about something in the pile, send a photo and we will tell you before we show up.
