Office and commercial moving

Moving a business is about downtime. We plan the move around your hours, label what goes where, and can take the old furniture you are not keeping.

What we move

  • Desks, chairs, conference tables and filing cabinets
  • Boxed files and records
  • Computers and monitors (packed and labeled by your team)
  • Small retail fixtures and stock
  • Medical and professional office furniture
  • Storage unit and warehouse moves

Planning the move

We visit or review a floor plan, agree on a labeling system, and schedule the crew for after hours or a weekend if your business cannot close. Most building managers want a certificate of insurance and a booked freight elevator. Tell us early and we will coordinate it.

Clearing out the old space

Leases often require the space to be empty at hand-back. Furniture that is not going to the new office can be hauled off in the same job, so you are not paying a second company to come back.

Commercial movers for small businesses

Most of our commercial moving is for small businesses in Norwalk, Stamford and the rest of Fairfield County. A two room law office, a dental practice, an insurance agency, a boutique moving down the street. These moves are small enough that the owner is often the one planning it, and big enough that a bad day costs real money.

Every type of business has its own pressure points. Retail stores need fixtures, shelving and stock moved without mixing up inventory. Medical and dental offices have exam room furniture, heavy file cabinets and patient records that need to stay together and closed. Professional offices have desks, conference tables and a lot of paper. We plan the crew and the truck around what you actually have.

  • Retail shops and showrooms
  • Medical, dental and therapy offices
  • Law, accounting and insurance offices
  • Small warehouses, workshops and back rooms

Planning an office move timeline

A small office move goes best when it starts four to eight weeks out. That gives you time to confirm the move date with both landlords, book freight elevators and loading docks, and let clients know where you are going.

Two to three weeks before, start labeling. Give every desk and room a number on the new floor plan, and put that number on every box, chair and cabinet that goes there. Purge old files and furniture now so you are not paying to move things you will throw away later.

IT is the one part we leave to your team or your IT company. They should back up data, disconnect and label computers, phones and network gear, and pack servers or specialty equipment. We move the boxed equipment carefully and put it at the right desk. Your IT people reconnect it.

  • 4 to 8 weeks out: set the date, book elevators and docks, tell clients
  • 2 to 3 weeks out: label by room and desk number, purge files and furniture
  • 1 week out: pack non-essentials, confirm IT disconnect plan
  • Move day: crew moves and places everything by label
  • Day after: IT reconnects, we haul off anything left behind

Office furniture removal and liquidation of old desks and cubicles

Sometimes the old furniture is not worth moving. Laminate desks, worn chairs, outdated cubicles and dented file cabinets often cost more to move and rebuild than they are worth. Office furniture removal clears it out so the new space starts fresh and the old space is ready for hand-back.

We take apart cubicle panels, desks and shelving, carry everything out and haul it away. Metal file cabinets and steel shelving can often be recycled. If you want to sell or give away good pieces first, set them aside and we will take the rest. Send photos of the furniture and the space, and we give you an upfront quote for the removal on its own or bundled with the move.

After-hours and weekend office moves

Most businesses cannot close for a day to move. Our regular hours are Monday to Friday, 8 to 5, and evenings or weekends are available by appointment. A common plan is to pack on Thursday and Friday, move on Saturday, and open in the new space on Monday.

Some buildings only allow moves after hours or on weekends anyway, so check your lease and the building rules early. Month end weekends fill up fast because that is when most leases turn over.

Moving storage units and business inventory

Plenty of small businesses keep stock, records or seasonal displays in a storage unit. We move it into a new unit, into your new space, or out of storage altogether when you are closing the unit. If some of it is junk, we haul that away in the same trip.

For inventory, tell us how it is organized and how you want it unloaded. Pallets, totes and boxed stock go back on the shelf in the order you need them, so your team is not digging through a pile on Monday morning.

Office and Commercial Moving: common questions

Can you move us over a weekend?

Yes, weekend work is by appointment. Book early, especially at month end when leases turn over.

Do you take apart and rebuild desks and cubicles?

We take apart and reassemble standard office furniture. For complex cubicle systems, send photos or the manufacturer name so we can plan the crew and time.

Can you get rid of furniture we are not taking?

Yes. Office furniture removal is part of our junk removal service and can be added to the move.

How much does an office move cost?

It depends on the amount of furniture and boxes, crew size, floors and elevator access at both buildings, the drive between them, and whether the move is after hours. Furniture removal or disassembly adds time. Send a floor plan, photos or a short walkthrough video and we give you a free quote before any work starts.

Do you disconnect and set up computers?

No. Your staff or IT provider should back up, disconnect, label and pack computers, phones and network equipment. We move the packed equipment carefully and place it at the right desk by label. Your IT team then reconnects everything. Keeping that split clear avoids lost cables and mixed up workstations.

Can you move a business out of Westchester or the Bronx?

Yes. We serve Fairfield County, New Haven County, Westchester and the Bronx. Tell us both addresses and the building rules at each one, such as loading dock hours or freight elevator booking, so we can plan the timing and crew.

Can you move just a few pieces of office furniture?

Yes. Small jobs are welcome, like moving a conference table between floors, bringing a few desks to a new suite, or taking file cabinets to storage. Send photos and both addresses. We can also assemble new office furniture once it arrives.
