Junk removal in Norwalk and Fairfield County
Point at what goes. We carry it out, load it, sweep up and haul it away. You get the price before anyone picks anything up.
What we haul
Most jobs are a mix: an old couch, a dead washer, a few bags from the garage and the boxes nobody opened since the last move. That is exactly what we are set up for.
- Couches, sectionals, recliners and mattresses
- Washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves and air conditioners
- Dressers, desks, tables and bed frames
- Exercise equipment and grills
- Yard waste, old fencing and broken patio sets
- Boxes, bags and general household clutter
- Office furniture, cubicles and file cabinets
What we cannot take
Some things have to go through special disposal by law. We will not take paint and solvents, propane tanks, chemicals, asbestos, medical waste or anything that is leaking fuel. If you are not sure about an item, send a photo and we will tell you.
How the price works
Junk removal is priced by how much room your stuff takes up in the truck, plus anything heavy or awkward like a piano, a hot tub or a basement full of tile. Stairs and long carries can add labor time.
Send photos by text for a ballpark, or we can look in person. Either way you hear the number first.
Town bulky pickup or a hauler
Most towns around here offer bulky waste pickup or a transfer station, and for one or two items that is often the cheapest route. The catch is that you carry everything to the curb or drive it there yourself, on their schedule. Call us when the stuff is heavy, upstairs, or you need it gone this week.
Couch, furniture and mattress removal
Furniture removal is most of what we do on a normal week in Norwalk. Old couches, sleeper sofas, sectionals, recliners, dining sets, entertainment centers and the dresser that has been in the guest room for twenty years. We carry it out of the room it is in, down the stairs and onto the truck.
Couch removal is usually easier than people expect. Sectionals come apart at the brackets, and we take legs off when a sofa will not clear a doorway. Sleeper sofas are heavier than they look because of the metal frame inside, so we plan for two people on those. If a piece only got into a room by taking a door off its hinges, we can do the same on the way out and put the door back.
We wrap corners and watch the walls on the way down. In older Fairfield County homes with narrow stairwells, that matters more than speed.
Mattress removal is one of the most common single-item calls we get. Box springs, memory foam, pillow tops, futons and crib mattresses all go. A lot of people try to fit a queen in the back of an SUV and give up halfway.
Connecticut runs a statewide mattress recycling program, and many town transfer stations take mattresses through it. If you would rather not haul it yourself, we pick it up from the bedroom. If you are getting a new mattress delivered the same week, tell us the date and we can come take the old one before or after.
If a mattress has bed bugs, say so when you book. We still need to know so it can be bagged and handled separately from other items.
Appliance and refrigerator removal
Appliance removal covers washers, dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, microwaves, chest freezers, dehumidifiers and window air conditioners. We disconnect a washer from its hoses and a dryer from its vent. Gas lines and hardwired units should be shut off and disconnected by you or a licensed pro before we arrive.
Refrigerator removal needs a little more care than other appliances. Fridges, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers contain refrigerant. Under federal rules that refrigerant has to be recovered by a certified technician before the unit is scrapped, so it cannot just be tossed in a dumpster. We take these to places that handle that step properly.
- Empty the fridge or freezer and let it defrost the day before if you can
- Tape the doors shut or leave them for us to secure
- Turn off the water valve behind an ice maker or washer
- Clear a path from the appliance to the door
Hot tub and piano removal
Hot tub removal is a bigger job than most. The tub has to be drained, and the power has to be shut off at the breaker and disconnected before we touch it. Most hot tubs will not fit through a side gate in one piece, so we cut them into sections in place and carry those out. Any steps, covers and the old cover lifter can go in the same trip.
Piano removal is mostly about weight and stairs. An upright piano weighs several hundred pounds, and a grand weighs more. We use straps and a dolly and plan the route before we lift. Send a photo of the piano and the path to the door, including any steps or tight turns, so we bring the right number of people.
Yard debris removal
Yard debris removal picks up where your weekend cleanup left off. Brush piles, cut branches, bagged leaves, old mulch, broken planters, rotted fence sections and the pile behind the shed. We load it from wherever it sits, so you do not have to drag it to the driveway first.
This gets busy in spring and after storms come through the Connecticut shoreline. If you have a lot of loose brush, bundling it or bagging it is not required, but it does make the load go faster.
What junk removal costs and what changes the price
People ask how much junk removal costs before anything else, and the honest answer is that it depends on what you have. The quote is free and you get it before any work starts. These are the things that move the number up or down.
- How much space the items take up in the truck
- Weight: dirt, concrete, tile and roofing shingles are heavy even in small piles
- Items with their own disposal fees, like mattresses, tires and appliances with refrigerant
- Access: stairs, elevators, long walks from the parking spot or tight doorways
- Labor before loading, like taking apart a bed frame or cutting up a hot tub
- Timing: a same-week or weekend appointment versus a flexible date

Junk Removal: common questions
Do I need to bring anything outside first?
No. We pick items up wherever they are: the basement, the attic, a third-floor apartment, the back of the yard. Just make sure we can park reasonably close and get through the door.
Do I have to be home?
Not always. If the items are in a garage, on a porch or with a building super, we can do the pickup without you there. We agree on the price and the list beforehand and send photos when it is done.
How much does junk removal cost in Connecticut?
It depends on volume and labor. A single item costs far less than a full garage. Text us a few photos at (475) 259-9687 and we will give you an upfront price before we schedule.
Can you take just one item?
Yes. A single couch, mattress or fridge is a normal call for us. Send a photo to (475) 259-9687 and tell us where it is in the house. If we are already working near you in Norwalk or a nearby town that week, it can be easier to fit a single pickup into the schedule.
Do you take electronics like TVs and computers?
Yes. Old TVs, monitors, printers, computers and stereo equipment can go. Connecticut has rules for recycling electronics, so these get separated from the regular load and taken to the right drop-off. Wipe or remove the hard drive from any computer before pickup if there is personal information on it.
What areas do you cover for junk removal?
We are based at 64 Wall Street in Norwalk and work across Fairfield County, New Haven County, Westchester and the Bronx. That covers towns like Stamford, Westport, Darien, Fairfield, Bridgeport and New Haven. If you are not sure we come to your street, call and ask.
Can I add items once the crew is there?
Usually, yes. If you find more in the garage while we are loading, point it out. We will tell you how it changes the price before we put it on the truck, so there are no surprises on the final bill.
